Want to learn how to start and maintain a compost pile?  Love getting a workout and doing something meaningful? Join us in turning the Compost Carpool Compost Piles! Check out the steamy gloriousness that is hot composting and learn about: Proper moisture level Turning a pile (frequency, proper distribution of moisture and bacteria, the importance of oxygen in aerobic composting) Balancing greens and browns (nitrogen and carbon) Tips for heating up a pile and keeping it hot Be sure to bring water! Even in the mornings, it gets pretty hot. We also recommend a hat and closed-toed shoes (ideally boots to protect yourself from ants).
